Kyle & Taylor’s Hometown Maysville, Kentucky Engagement

I have gotten used to seeing brides MOST of the time in the booking process.  About half the time I see the groom before the engagement session and the other half I won’t meet him until then.  As supportive as most guys are… many are really hands off with the wedding planning process.  NOT this groom!  Kyle was the first to contact me and I knew from the start that he must be a keeper!  Kyle and Taylor have had a whirlwind romance that quickly led to an engagement.  I was honored to be able to meet up with them in Taylor’s hometown, Maysville, KY for their engagement photo shoot.  I have to say, I have only ever driven through the outskirts of Maysville before so it really was foreign to me but after spending some time walking the downtown streets with this amazing couple, I could totally see the appeal of living in a small town!

What will stay with me from this session though, is the absolute tangible love between Kyle and Taylor.  Not that every couple I meet are not in love, because they truly are, but sometimes, you find a couple that just has that extra spark.  These two definitely have it!  We can’t wait for their wedding day!

Emily & Chris’ Richmond / Eastern Kentucky University Engagement

Tonight we traveled to EKU for Emily and Chris’ Engagement session.  We were so happy that the rain held out because we definitely got some amazing shots!  I was also especially proud of the amount of UK blue that Emily had planned for her wardrobe! ;)  She may have gone to EKU but it looks like she bleeds blue!  Can’t wait for their wedding in June! Here’s a sneak peek:

Melissa & Joe’s Stonewall Farm Engagement

When Melissa first called she told me that they were going to have a small wedding on their farm.  Well in Kentucky that could mean a LOT of different things.  I was unprepared for the GORGEOUS main house and state of the art barns that we would find on the property!  Of course I was pleasantly surprised also by just how sweet Melissa and Joe were together.  You can just tell when Joe looks at her that he absolutely ADORES Melissa and vice-versa.  It was a privilege to work with this fabulous couple and their families.  Bridal and Wedding sneak peeks coming soon!

Maureen & Chad’s Southland Christian Church Wedding

January-wedding-Lexington-Kentucky-photos

Maureen and Chad were blessed with an AMAZINGLY warm January day.  It seems that my couples are lucky like that!  ( I like to call that blessed! )  We had plenty of time to run off to Keeneland for some beautiful photos with the couple before their candlelit ceremony.

There were so many unique and special touches to their wedding… It was like a photographer’s playground!  Maureen and Chad’s intimate wedding culminated in dinner at Malone’s, a fabulous cake by Brenda of the Sugar Forest and post wedding drinks at the Bigg Blue Martini!  Pretty perfect wedding day if you ask me!  Here’s the sneak peek!

Nicole & John’s Versailles, KY Brittany Farm Wedding

Shooting weddings is not only a career for us, but a passion.  We never take the privilege lightly and always count it an honor to be asked to spend one of the most important days of two people’s lives with them, capturing every little piece :)   That honor is elevated a bit in our eyes when we are asked by family and friends to be their photographers.  I have to say it is usually a bit more stressful just because you want everything to be PERFECT for them!  My husband, Troy, has known the groom, John since they were small kids so when John called to say that he was getting married we were over the moon excited for him and Nicole!  Sharing their amazing wedding day was a special experience!  The wedding took place at Nicole’s family home on Brittany Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.  On a bright and beautiful July day, John and Nicole exchanged their vows and celebrated late into the night with an awesome reception headlined by Caught Red Handed. It was a fabulous day and evening that ended with a late night send off under a cloud of bubbles.  Good times were had by all!

Makeup by Susan Strange.. who did a fabulous job on both face and body!  She made Nicole’s tan lines disappear!  I was totally impressed!!!

These bridesmaid dresses were so flowy and gorgeous.  I do believe they were David’s Bridal dresses (which honestly shocked me because I am not normally a DB fan!  I was thinking they were J Crew!!)

John helped choose these awesome swirl ties from thetiebar.com

Nicole rocked these awesome Steve Madden wedges that matched her wedding colors perfectly!

Nicole and John were married under the amazing shade trees in her parent’s yard on Brittany Farm.

The reception followed in an adjoining field under a tent decorated beautifully with shades of celery green, yellow and orange.  NO pink at this wedding :)

Nicole and her awesome bridesmaids.

John and his groomsmen in their tan suits.  Perfect for a warm summer evening!

The main driveway of the farm is lined with rows of yellow and orange Lily flower beds.  It was like they had planted them just for Nicole and John!!!

Their awesome cake by Brenda Renner of The Sugar Forest.  Notice the paw prints on top?  That was Nicole’s way of having her two beloved pups with her on the wedding day!!  How cute is that?

A close up of the puppy prints… awwwwwwwwww…..

Such a sweet first dance!  There was dancing… and a LIVE band (one of our favorite to boot!  Caught Red Handed)

And an awesome bubble send off …

Mandie & Jason’s Wedding and Engagement pics are coming soon!

Until then… here’s a sneak peek!  Do you ever take a photo that literally pops out of the camera and takes your breath away?  I love my photos and my couples but its not often that I gasp watching the photos download onto my screen.  Tonight… even though I captured this couple, this IMAGE captured me…..

Kenzie & Chris’s Andover Wedding Pics Coming SOON!

Check back this weekend! Until then here’s a sneak peek!! ~  I have to add… Mackenzie had the COOLEST bouquet… her simple rose bouquet was spruced up with tiny jewels courtesy Magnolia Floral Design in Lexington.  In every single photo it seemed that her bouquet just sparkled in the sunlight.  There were many more cool floral aspects to the wedding but you will have to check back later to see those.  ;)   I was totally impressed!!!  We also know that I am a TOTAL sucker for a crisp clean uniform (I am an equal opportunity… Marine, Air Force, Army, Navy, take your pick!) so to get to photograph Kenzie’s dad walking her down in the aisle in his uniform made me smile (and cry… of course)!  Colonel Adams even brought out the SWORD!!!  (see last pic!)  Congrats Mackenzie and Chris!

Melissa and Bill’s Wedding Images are coming soon!

Melissa and Bill- your wedding images are on their way (check back later this evening or tomorrow morning for the full galleries and be watching your email for updates!)

But first I must reflect on HOW FUN their day was!  Bill (the groom) has a twin brother- and as much as they don’t look alike THEY DO!!!  Thank goodness they had on different colored ties!  (I might have been in trouble otherwise!)  But this entire wedding party was a stitch.  If I gave a superlative to this wedding it would be “MOST OUTRAGEOUSLY FUN WEDDING PARTY!” ….

So as you can see above.  they took their duties as wedding attendants seriously.  I am pretty sure that Bill and his brother BOTH jumped higer than they are tall!  Troy and I have laughed at this pic 100 times!  Now its time for you to laugh with us!

Can I just say that Melissa’s eyes were literally SPARKLING as she walked down that aisle?  I was so glad I could catch “the look”.  Do you see it?

We were able to stop at Keeneland on the commute from the ceremony (Kings Way Assembly of God in Versailles) to the reception Marriott Griffin Gate.  I was SO glad we did because we got some SUPER shots!

And yes the smashing of the cake still LIVES at Melissa and Bill’s wedding!  I just KNEW when they donned the pastel napkins that it was ALL over!

So much fun at a wedding plus some funny faces

I am finishing up proofing on Melissa & Bill’s wedding this weekend and just couldn’t get over the unique facial expressions of everyone in this wedding.  Facial expressions and letting loose and having a good time make for the best photos.  So what do I do to take a break from intense proofing?  Why I put together a little filmstrip showing some of the interesting faces we captured of Melissa the day of her wedding.  This is what makes the day so much fun for us as photographers.  We get to play around and have fun with the couple.

Thank you Melissa & Bill for being so much fun on your wedding day.  We love the unique facial expressions you shared with us.  Thank you!

Of course Bill and I had some fun as well playing around with some punching gloves before the wedding…

Bill’s twin also had some mean faces that day.  You can tell as kids they had too much fun as twins.

And of course what would a wedding be without me using my clothing as a means to white balance.

Once again thanks guys for having so much fun.  We love wedding couples that can loosen up and have fun with us!!  PS… Melissa and Bill… your wedding pics are on their way… start counting down!
