Lateefah’s Bridal Session

urban-lexington-kentucky-wedding-dress-photos-bridal-session

We shot Lateefah and Matt’s wedding in Louisville, Kentucky on the rooftop of the Glassworks building in August but due to time constraints we were unable to fit in a bridal session before the wedding.  Problem solved…do it afterward.  This is ALWAYS an option for our brides.  Before or after… makes no difference to us.  We actually find that brides are a lot braver in their dresses AFTER they have already worn them on the big day!

Now, granted I have known Teefah for at least 15 years now, and spent many long wonderful days with her as Kyleigh’s nurse at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital (shout out to my 4 East girls!), I trusted Teefah with my daughter’s life and I asked her to trust me with her photos.

She of course, was up for anything and off we went.  Through a field, over a railroad track, avoiding a thunderstorm, in a fountain, downtown to Triangle park… we did it all!  Here is what ensued:

I mentioned fountains and Teefah was pumped!  So we stood on top of the fountains (granted by this point in the season that water was COLD!) … we tip toed around.. took pics in front and they were great… but then I said… what if you got IN the fountain and this is the look I got:

SURE! …. so in she went!

urban-lexington-kentucky-wedding-dress-bridal-photosAfter her legs and feet were fully numb from the cold water… we got down to business…

Or maybe we, like any good friend and photographer, sat back and laughed as Teefah froze her butt off splashing in the fountain!  But it made for good pics right?

Even though a storm was encroaching we decided to hurry down to Triangle Park for a few last minute pics in Teefah’s RECEPTION dress!  I mean… if smoke em if you got em … (and no I don’t endorse smoking… when we flew to Disney our pilot made a joke about NO SMOKING on the place except that our plane had exactly 3hrs and 30 minutes worth of gas and if we were still in the air at 4 hours then we might as well smoke em if you got em!  We thought it was funny … so if you hear us use this during your session… don’t freak out.)

Amanda & Brian’s Engagement photos :)

Amanda and Brian are admittedly special to us.  We just met them in the process of their booking us to photograph their wedding but during that process we learned that they will be getting married at Cardome in Georgetown, KY.  Would anyone like to guess WHY that is SO important?

Yes… 10 years ago Troy and I had our own wedding there and I still think that it is one of the most beautiful venues in Kentucky.  (PS… YES I own the rights to my wedding images and the “negatives”… 10 years ago our pics were shot on medium format FILM! )  **This is where I insert a mini lesson on copyright law… anyone visiting here… PLEASE… respect your photographer’s right to own their creations.  Do not copy, post, recreate or print your photos without their permission… it makes us photogs really cranky! … we do have businesses and children whose mouths we need to feed and we gave everything away for free we would all be broke and have no money to buy these cameras that help us create these awesome images!** rant over.

Amanda and Brian’s engagement session pretty much traversed the entire city.  We started out downtown at one of Amanda’s favorite places in Lexington, Triangle Park.  She has fond memories of Triangle Park, as do I!  We stayed downtown for a bit and later headed to Brian’s house to change and pick up their dogs.

We were off to Masterson Station park and some surrounding areas to shoot some true “fall” images!  It was cool gorgeous day and the fall color was amazing.

Brandi & Dave’s Lexington Wedding Reception

Brandi and Dave had their Lexington Reception at Arts Place in downtown Lexington.  We met up with them at the Hyatt as they started to get ready.  We made our way from the Hyatt to Arts Place on foot and meandered through downtown to get some cool shots.  We managed to stop off at Triangle Park and get a few there as well.  The night ended as Brandi and Dave rode off into the night on their horse drawn carriage.

Ashley & Keith, Centenary Methodist & Embassy Suites

Ashley and Keith Rickman were married yesterday, May 24, 2008 at Centenary United Methodist Church.  Their reception followed at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike.  I have known Ashley for at least 10 years now and was so thrilled to get to be a part of her big day!  It was an AMAZING day.  Lots of laughs and love as Ashley and Keith started their new life together.  Ashley looked stunning in her lace strapless gown and Keith in his tux with pocket squares!  Gotta love the pocket squares!  LOL  We even managed to find 10 minutes to stop at Triangle Park for some pictures on the way to the reception.  Ashley and Keith got LOTS of honks, as they should!  You can tell they were just made for each other!  The night was made a little extra special with a serenade by Ashley’s Daddy of the song “I Loved her First”… I assure you … there was NOT a dry eye in the place.

Congratulations Guys… wishing you many years of laughter and love!

Here’s a sneak peek of their day!
